Ordering at a steakhouse? Try these classic steaks!


A perfect, well-cooked steak, served with some creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies – Sounds enticing for a brunch? Grilling meats is an art, and steaks are always worth paying for, even when these are the most expensive items on a menu. Visiting a known place in Montreal, such as Rib n Reef steakhouse restaurant, can be confusing because there are just too many things to choose from. While a few appetizers, seafood and salads are worth trying, you have to order steaks at a steakhouse. There is nothing called the best ‘steak’, but for your help, we are enlisting the items that deserve your attention at a steakhouse.

  • Tenderloin Filet. This is also called Filet Mignon, known for its tender meat with little or no fat. If you are on a diet but don’t want to compromise on the taste, this is the choice to go for. Filet Mignon is usually not cooked overtly, because the lack of fat makes the steak juicy. Experts also agree that getting the steak right is often hard.
  • Porterhouse Steak. Porterhouse Steak can often also refer to the T-Bone steak and has two steaks in one. It contains a tenderloin filet, which often cooks quicker, so the grilling has to be done in a way that the tenderloin side is away from the heat source. The other part is the New York Strip. Many steakhouses offer huge Porterhouse steaks, which are meant to be shared.
  • New York Strip. Another steak that must be mentioned is the New York Strip, which has less fat but doesn’t compromise on the tenderness and juiciness. The flavor of this steak, also called Manhattan, is buttery, and many restaurants do have a variant with the bone in. Ask in advance before you place an order to know the options.
  • Ribeye Steak. The last one on our list is the Ribeye Steak, which has the most amount of fat marbling. For many foodies, this is their favorite steak, because it has enough of lean meat and almost as much of fat for that incredibly satiating experience. The steak or cut can be roasted too. If you don’t mind a tad more fat in your diet, this could be a fulfilling steak by all means.
