Breakfast in the Middle East is usually nit a hurry unless one is in a hurry to go to work, school or anywhere else. The Arabian breakfasts may include only bread, jam, cheese (with a mixture of spices, thyme, sesame and salt ),fresh fruits, vegetables, olives pickles and eggs.

Unlike Westerner, in Arab countries coffee is not drunk at breakfast time but it is drunk as a pre-breakfast, digestive and social drink with delicious desserts. In Arab countries, they usually drink fruit juice or sweet tea with breakfast.

1/2 cup ground black pepper

1/2 cup ground cumin

1/2 cup paprika

1/4 cup ground coriander

1/4 cup ground cloves

4 teaspoons ground nutmeg

4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

2 teaspoons ground cardamom

Directions :

Stir the black pepper, cumin, paprika, coriander, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cardamom together until evenly blended. Store the spice mix in an airtight container.

Tourists who have traveled to Lebanon are familiar with Manakeesh. One of the types of snacks that is prepared for breakfast is Manakeesh. Manaakeesh is a very simple pizza, actually it is a thin layer of dough with cheese,yogurt and zataar or mixture of these on it. Manakeesh has different types :

Zataar Manakeesh :a fragrant local dry vegetable

Jabneh Manakeesh : it looks like a pizza with cheese

Keshek Manakeesh : keshek is a powder made from crushed wheat and yogurt and then dried for use in later seasons.

Vegetables Manakeesh: like the cheese manakeesh.

Sweet Manakeesh:there is a sweet version of Manakeesh with sesame, sugar and butter.

This classic Lebanese breakfast is very rich in vitamins and it is very delicious. The probiotics,protein and calcium in Labne with mint gives energy you need to start your day. To make this breakfast, chop the fresh mint and add four grated garlic cloves and pour in the yogurt. This breakfast is served with olive oil,radishes, cucumbers and tomatoes.

Hummus : perhaps one of the most popular Lebanese and Arabian breakfasts is Hummus. This delectable breakfast that is rich in protein and fiber and it is a good meal specially for vegetarians. This Arabic breakfast consists of chickpeas, garlic, olive oil and 4 teaspoons Tahini. All these ingredients are mixed into the mixer and then you should add cumin, fresh lemon juice and paprika to flavor it. Instead of bread, you can eat slices of vegetables such as carrots and celery. In less than 5 minutes, you can prepare a healthy breakfast.

From spinach, cheese and tomato Fatayer to mini pizzas and other dough-based goodies, these savory Lebanese pastries are the perfect street food to satisfy your hunger (after Manakeesh of course)

Kaak with picon :

Another beloved street food, Kaak with Picon (the nation’s favorite spreadable cheese ) can be found all over the country, usually sold by an old man riding a bike /trolley thing on the street. Add sumac, thyme, and other fix-ins.

Foul and Balila with the works :

Foul Mudammas and Balila make one of the must famous Lebanese breakfasts that can fill you up for hours on end.

Lahm Baajine :

If you love meat, then this one’s for you. Top this flat Lebanese meat pie with lots of chili and a squeeze of lemon, and you’re good to go.
